BALTIMORE (AP) — A man was shot and killed after he swung a baseball bat at a person who cleans windshields at intersections for cash, Baltimore’s police commissioner said Thursday.
The 48-year-old man who was shot was driving through an intersection near Baltimore’s Inner Harbor in the afternoon when he encountered so-called squeegee workers and had a heated interaction, Commissioner Michael Harrison told reporters.
Squeegee workers, also known as squeegee kids, consist mostly of teens from low-income neighborhoods who clean drivers’ windshields at intersections in exchange for money. Some drivers in Baltimore have complained about them.
The man drove through the intersection, parked his car and came back with a baseball bat, Harrison said.
“He swung the bat at one or more of those squeegee workers. In return, one of the squeegee workers pulled out a gun and fired, striking this male victim,” the commissioner said, adding that police didn’t know if he hit anyone with the bat.
The man was pronounced dead at a hospital. His name wasn’t released.
The workers fled the scene on foot, Harrison said. No arrests had been made as of late afternoon.
A witness told The Baltimore Sun that he saw a squeegee worker shoot the man after he got out of his car with the bat. Cody Bro, who was visiting Baltimore for a convention, said he saw the driver “arguing with one of the squeegee people — the people who squeegee your windows.”
“Left out is that the little bastards spray dirty water on windshields first ... then demand money in exchange for cleaning up the mess they created.”
So they are like the auto repair shops that sabotage cars to upsell a more expensive repair?
I’m still trying to get out.
It’s like Halloween at every stoplight!
When I used to listen to Michael Savage, I heard him mocking Rudy Giuliani for being so popular when all he did was get rid of the squeegee men. I couldn’t believe it.
Not everyone can full Galt but the responsible need to relocate and quit supporting the enemy through productivity and taxes. Obviously personal safety demands the same.
pretty much
Where I live they operate at gas stations demanding $5 when you come back from inside the store because they cleaned your windshield. So I don’t leave my car. I just gas up with a credit card and repeatedly tell them to stay away from me. The ages range from teens to 50’s. They also try to sell you weed and dope. It’s awful.
Yep, they’re like every con outfit.
Except they have found way to cash in on ‘tard guilt. That makes enough extra to make it worth standing on a median all day.
Once a place gets nice... that’s when the ‘tards come in... and the whole place goes under. Then the window washers come in, the ‘tardfolk say I could spend $20 dollars to pay the rent, but I guess I’ll spend it on the window ‘tard instead!
Least that’s what I saw on a documentary about automotive part salesmen.
I usually try to hit them with a baseball bat.
Guess that’s off the table now.
On my last visit to Baltimore in 2008, I drove through that area and never encountered any squeegee guys. Sounds like it as gotten a lot worse.
Come to “Beautiful Inner Harbor and DIE”!
Ex-Baltimorean, with good reason.
Oregon? New Jersey?
- "The Untouchables," sorta.

Season opener of “The Wire II’.
I LOVED The Wire great show!!
Or they smash your windshield if you try and drive away without wanting their service.
Not much of a chance of getting educated in a Baltimore school!!
AP is not sure how to handle this.
“Squeegee workers” are disadvantaged yutes. They were attacked. They are the victims.
Bat guy was shot. He must be the victim.
“Quick, pull out the ‘style book’. What do we write?”
A time of suffocating conformity and regimentation.
“The workers fled the scene on foot”
Workers? LOL
