I love that episode.
What a great show. Col. Potter giving those hippies the business!
“Surf’s up; but not for you, beach boy. You’re gonna be hangin’ ten downtown!”
The names were changed to protect the guilty.
Some of those kids are running Washington now.
Mastoid scars are an odd reference.
You do not understand at all

So true. I watched all the episodes during winter. I still listen to the old radio regularly through podcasts I’m subscribed to. Thank you for posting this.
ahhh, the late ‘60’s! my last 2 years of high school in connecticut. bomb threats, arson fires, gang warfare in the halls with bats, knives, chainz, and zip guns (look that one up), 3 murders, 5 rapes, and still managed to be #126 out of 612 when i graduated.
that july i was in san antonio texas at a little place called lackland afb, going throuvh basic training, and in october 1971, southeast asia in support of the vietnam war, via a place called u-tapao royal thai naval airfield, home of the 307th strategic wing, hosting the only land-based b-52’s in southeast asia.
phun times, indeed.
You must have lived in Danbury.
nope! close though, Stamford!
New Fairfield, went to Danbury High in ‘75.
‘75, eeh?
lessee ... hmmm ‘75 ...oh yes, I have returned to the base i left to go to southeast Asia, got my next stripe, got my 1st car, made warehouse supervisor, and was informed that with a surplus, post-Vietnam, of too many E-5’s with 5 yrs in service, that i either fish and find a new career, or wait and be assigned to cook,,cop,,,or civil engineer, or, bye bye!
btw, Stamford High school took County Champs in 1969, in football.
not me. i lettered my last 2 years in cross country.
‘73-74 Danbury high was closed due to race riots. I was there ‘74-75,the place was in lockdown with heavy security. Quite a culture shock for a kid from the sticks.
1/2 of Stamford, including the old downtown, was razed during the MLK assassination riots. There was a sheet marble memorial to all the WW1 kia that was smashed.
strange...1975 on the base all the Negro enlisted personnel tried a sitdown in the base mess hall! if they were in their 1st enlistment, bad conduct discharge, 5 years in air force prison in Denver. if they were in second enlistment, got shipped to Thule airbase, Greenland, or, Reykjavik, Iceland, tillthe end of their enlistment, then general discharge at the convenience of the vovernment.
Wow harsh. Some history repeats.
