Carolyn Bryant didn’t tell her husband Till had made a pass at her. She and her sister in law decided that would lead to trouble and initially kept silent.

Apparently some black acquaintance came to the house and told Bryant what Till had done. I guess he figured that Mrs. Bryant had already done so, and hoped to defuse the situation, maybe to get Till off with a beating instead of having angry Bryant brothers coming after everyone.

so it would appear that a black person saw it? and so that means the woman in question did not lie about it.

That's interesting. I never heard that. If that is true, this lady was actually trying to protect Till, even though he harassed her.
