Reminds me of two excellent videos by Chris Rock, both readily available on youtube. One’s called “Black People vs Niggaz” and the other’s called “How Not To Get Your A$$ Kicked By The Police”.
>>This sounds like someone screwed up and needs to be held accountable.
the judge already ruled - the only person that ‘screwed up’ was the drama queen looking for a payday.
Cop clearly had a relationship with Publix (guessing he worked their off duty) because he referred to the employees in the store by their first name. Never saw a theft, employees never saw a theft she just did not want to be treated like a criminal being asked for her receipt when she knew she did not steal anything. Once she paid, the merchandise and the receipt were her property and she was entitled “to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.”
She had a receipt but refused to show him.
Accused employees of racially profiling her.
When you lie you need a sample of the Edison machine just to keep your dumb a$$ in line.
Since when in this country is it up to the accused to prove one’s innocence?
Yes, she could have averted much of the problem by showing a receipt but that was not her duty. In this case, neither side seemed to want to listen to the other.
And I’m sorry but that cop needs to be fired. Soon as he said “everybody that shops here is black” as his defense that was was racial discrimination he showed his hand.
Warner Wolf had it correct, “ Let's go to the videotape!”.
All she had to do was produce proof of purchase. It’s done all the time everyday.
Walmart does it routinely.
But no, she had to show her nwa ass.
Garuntee she goes back everyday and dares them to do something so she can sue them.
And blacks wonder why some whites don’t want to associate with them.
Then she should have produced her receipt and THEN blessed out everyone involved, gone to the press, made a stink on social media, etc.
I understand that doing something so simple is a foreign concept to you.
Walmart is wrong and I do not show my receipt. If they don’t like it, they can tresspass me from the store and I will never darken their doorstep with my presence.
If an employee asks to see my receipt, I reply no thank you and keep walking. The only exception is Costco because I have agreed to their terms when I became a member. Otherwise the store can piss off and maybe get some more employees helping customers rather than hassling them.
“...he had NO EVIDENCE a crime was committed”
The woman was observed by store employees and at that point there is a reasonable need for discovery which the woman didn’t want to accomplish. If she had produced the receipt, it would have been all over with no arrest or need to result to physical actions to complete the arrest.
It also depends on which state you’re in. In Florida, being charged with a crime and being convicted are two very different things.
(3)(a) A law enforcement officer, a merchant, a farmer, or a transit agency’s employee or agent, who has probable cause to believe that a retail theft, farm theft, a transit fare evasion, or trespass, or unlawful use or attempted use of any antishoplifting or inventory control device countermeasure, has been committed by a person and, in the case of retail or farm theft, that the property can be recovered by taking the offender into custody may, for the purpose of attempting to effect such recovery or for prosecution, take the offender into custody and detain the offender in a reasonable manner for a reasonable length of time.

The woman was not arrested for refusing to show the receipt. She was arrested for refusing to follow the commands of the officer in an attempt to accomplish his duty.
Resisting arrest occurs when a person interferes with a law enforcement officer’s attempt to perform a lawful arrest. Some states call the crime “obstruction.” Resisting arrest occurs when a person interferes with a law enforcement officer’s attempt to perform a lawful arrest.

And that’s what got her tased and arrested, she openly defied the cop trying to do what he was supposed to do. If she is going to defy the law to that extent, I have no sympathy for her. She wanted it done...she got it.

Should she had licked the Policeman’s hand and kissed his boots as you would had done. Wear your chains lightly and proudly.
Agree with your post!
If I'm innocent of an accusation, and could show that I was innocent by simply showing a piece of paper, then I would do so.
I would not go out of my way to have a long and belligerent encounter with a cop over it.
Given the amount of shoplifting that stores are forced to eat, they have a choice between setting up some procedures, or closing up.
Pretty soon, biometric ID technology will be good enough, and cheap enough, that stores can compile lists of shoplifters, share between them, and deny entry to anyone on the list of thieves and troublemakers.

I have never showed a Walmart Employee my receipt when asked.
Now the door workers recognize me, and don’t ask.
Almost every good socially engineered sheeple I know asks, “why, if you’ve nothing to hide?”
Well, I am under no obligation to show them Jack shit as I didn’t sign anything stating a condition of my custom is to show I paid for all my purchases, and yes, I do see it as social engineering, training us all to be compliant in seemingly innocuous little things.
I have never complied to a request by police when in my youth I was pulled over, “ Do you mind if we look in your car?”
Didn’t comply in getting the COVID jab. I
Just don’t respond well when people assume authority over me they do not possess.
She must have had a package of Dindu Muffins in her cart.
“He should be FIRED and Prosecuted for Assault and Felony Kidnapping”
For what? Doing his job? The whole thing could have been cleared up in a minute if this obnoxious lady had simply cooperated with the officer’s reasonable request.
But I do get it. Some people just hate the police and hate authority.
He took the store employee at his/her word. Why not the accused? The cop just showed up after the fact and tased the woman. Truth of the matter is you should never talk to a cop without an attorney present for except to give basic information like your name and address.
