On a recent excursion to the northwest, the Cowboys linebacker shared a video of himself feeding a fish to a wild bear.
“Definitely a couple firsts this weekend,” Vander Esch wrote on his Instagram. “Not often you get to feed a wild bear and get a picture with two sturgeon in the same frame. Amazing weekend with family making memories that will last a lifetime! Thank you @killgoreadventures for an awesome trip.”
Killgore Adventures, the fishing and ATV rental firm that Vander Esch tagged, is based in Idaho.

Vander Esch is from Idaho, and is an excellent hunter. He has spent a lot of time in the backwoods.
Which makes me wonder what exactly is he thinking?
One doesn’t feed bears. They grow up and come back for more, the next time when the fisherman isn’t 6’7” and 250 lbs.
He’s just given this bear the idea that humans = food or reinforced this if the bear has been fed before. What an idiot. The next person the bear encounters who does not have food when the bear expects it, could be in trouble. Also, this irresponsible behavior by humans often consigns the bears they habituate to death.

Above is a “bear cam” from Alaska. They are safe to watch from the raised boardwalks, and even safer on the internet! (look at all those salmon!).
I’ve been to a few of those places (in person) and never saw anyone trying to feed the bears.
Now THAT'S cold!
I don't know about the penalty but in most states it is illegal.
Feed a bear, kill a bear.
