Some good points in the rest of the article too.
Unless you are in a crowd, get out of the line of fire immediately, which means dropping to the ground. Then roll/crawl to cover, preferably under a car. You are hosed in a crowd as you’ll probably be stomped if you drop to the ground. Try to get next to a vehicle in that case, then drop to the ground and crawl under the vehicle.
Sad when we have to live our lives in a constant state of yellow alert. I grew up with no alert level being necessary.
This, for starters: once proven as the perpetrator of the slaughter, First Thing: Cut offf both trigger fingers of the criminal. Second: Death Penalty via the consensus of the families of the victims. Third: Arrest the parents and/or guardians of the murderer. They go to Prison, 10 years for every fatality; 4 years for wounded. Automatically. Too severe you say? Tell that to the grieving mothers and fathers and children. If the parents of these killers knew that they would go to prison, maybe they’d give a damn about it. I’m not a betting man, but if I was I’d bet this little degenerate’s parents are thinking about one thing: Themselves.
“When a shooter targets the crowd you’re in”
Why, immediately ban guns, of course.
Just show the shooter the “Guns Not Allowed” sign... that’ll stop him right in his tracks!
In other words shut up and let the godless, America hating left be the only ones speaking. Nope.
I’d grab the nearest old lady as a shield but they are so skinny they barely slow down the bullets.
One simple easy rule……..
SHOOT BACK!
I remember America before liberal ideas turned it into a hellhole...

6. Be inconspicuous. This may be difficult if you’re 6 foot, 7 inches tall, but otherwise, do your best to be “the gray man.” You might not know whom the shooter is targeting, but don’t be the only one wearing a Day-Glo orange shirt.
7. Wear sneakers or other footwear that will allow you the most mobility. Only foolhardy reporters wear high heels to a parade.
8. That said, don’t run if you can help it. Unless everyone else is running, you will attract unwanted attention. Walk fast and purposefully around a corner, to higher ground, or another safe spot.
9. If you’re with friends, stay together. If you can’t, agree on a meeting place beforehand in case you get separated moving through the crowd.
10. Avoid being caught against walls, fences, blockades, or other solid objects. People can get crushed by masses of people fleeing the area.
11. If law enforcement arrives, stay out of their way. Their job is tough enough, and they won’t be able to hear you above the roar of the crowd.
12. If you’re going to be in a crowd for the day, you might need more than a folding chair and a picnic lunch. Consider carrying a small medical kit (say, a tourniquet and a compression bandage) that can help control bleeding. With a little knowledge and training, you might just save a life.
I used to say that it’s unlikely you’ll ever get caught in someone’s violent outburst. These days, however, I’m no longer so sure. Having a solid plan of action in these troubled times just makes common sense.
Find where the police officers are hiding because you know they are not going to be anywhere that they might get hurt or be able to stop the shooter.
A. Don’t be in crowd.
B. If you are, stay behind other people.😎
Do not shoot back. Just hide behind your protection detail.

Which downtown? Any of them.
The Dec. 5th "Stop the Steal" rally in Denver, became a Zombie Fest as Biden declared victory. All of the dregs of society came out honking and marching.
Trump supporters in front of the State Capitol started just walking away, recognizing they were outnumbered.
I decided then, there aren't many good reasons to go downtown (even CCW).
That guy could have used a Ar 7 and done as much damage as he did. Doesn’t take any great skill to fire into a crowd to kill and maim. Now what if somehow he had gotten ahold of a grenade launcher then what or a SAM?
Get behind the fattest person near you. If it's a Walmart crowd, there's plenty of hiding spaces....
Quick synopsis: Stay paranoid....
The rest of the suggestions, FTA....
4. Shooters are only one type of mass casualty event. Vehicles are well documented as weapons of destruction as well. Stay away from curbs, even if it’s the best spot to view the parade. Pedestrians nearest the curb will bear the brunt of a vehicular attack.
5. Avoid confrontation. Don’t engage in political or religious discussions with people you don’t know. It’s probably not a good idea to wear your political convictions on your T-shirt or hat. In the wrong place and the wrong time, this has gotten women pepper-sprayed and men beaten.

I used to say that it’s unlikely you’ll ever get caught in someone’s violent outburst. These days, however, I’m no longer so sure. Having a solid plan of action in these troubled times just makes common sense. We must be prepared for man-made disasters just as we should be prepared for hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes.
avoid crowds and large gatherings of people.
