Channel Nine have apologised after a television news reporters was photographed at a protest against the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe vs Wade decision holding a sign mocking Christianity.
Lana Murphy was covering the protest in Melbourne when she was pictured holding a sign that said: 'Mary (the virgin) should've had an abortion.'
The poster was then uploaded to her personal Instagram account.
The photo was widely shared on social media, with Catholic writer and Twitter user Joel Agius describing it as a 'disgusting message of Christian hate'.
Following the backlash from religious groups and community members, the network issues a statement on Tuesday afternoon.
The network explained that Ms Murphy was punished with a counselling session on 'why the post was not appropriate'.
The journalist did not mean to cause any offence, but has been counselled on why the post was not appropriate,' the network said.
'9News apologises to anyone offended by the post.
We respect all sides of this sensitive issue and pride ourselves on reporting with impartiality.'
Ms Murphy also issued a statement and explained it was not her intention to offend anyone.

True. However, the station and the reporter only seem to be concerned about offending people, not about what was actually meant, so they all need to reflect past their ratings concerns. I pray they do so.

The TV station has handled the situation completely. I’m sure the station would take the same steps had she defined a woman as a person who can bear babies.

Scripture teaches there can be pleasure in sin for a season, but like the cast of “Rosemary’s Baby”, and many many others, they found out God’s promise that He will not be mocked, means He really won’t be mocked without a horrific and wrathful payday.
This wasn’t her holding a sign displaying Christian hate. It is her holding a sign displaying hate of Christianity.
One thing to note in all of this, is that the sign she carried as her own essentially admits that she knows our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary as the favored daughter of God the Father and as the Chosen Mother of the Divine Son and as the Singular Spouse of the Holy Spirit.
Yet she claims, via her sign, that she would rather have had the Blessed Virgin Mother Mary betray God the Father and Her Spouse the Holy Spirit by murdering the Divine Son.
What we are witnessing is demonic and true unadulterated hate of Christianity.
She knows, as she says so clearly and undeniably with her sign to millions of people, heaven and hell are real yet she has publicly and proudly choses eternal damnation/death.
Why should any idiots in Australia care about an USSC ruling in America? They can still MURDER THEIR BABIES!

This current decision was due to the ridiculously awful, unlawful, and unconstitutional process by which the original politically motivated ruling rested.
The planet simply hasn’t paid attention to any reality, and clearly has no historical literacy, or baseline to draw their stupidly false and bloodthirsty conclusions from.
The US will still griesomely torture to death more babies than many countries have population going forward.
At some point soon, the only way a Holy God saves rebellious and bloodthirsty population is to pour out His wrath to wipe out all evil.
