I hope there is a very special place in Hell for trophy hunters - if you don’t eat it, don’t kill it.
The cost of the licenses are animal specific and cost in the thousands.
Those dollars are directed specifically to fund the soldiers whose responsibility is to hunt down and either arrest or kill the equally armed poachers.
Without such funding from these specific outfitters such as Pro Hunt Africa, the poachers would decimate the animal population in Africa.
The killing of Riaan Naude, the 55-year-old head of Pro Hunt Africa , was clearly an assassination............
“... if you don’t eat it, don’t kill it.”
I’ve known several big game hunters, personally. After a kill, the animal is slaughtered and its meat provided to a nearby village, that lives off of it for weeks. Trophy hunters are good for the local economy, as well as directly good for the locals.
The cliches about trophy hunting is pretty much inaccurate in most cases that I’m aware of.
I've shot some WT's and turkeys....
Ate everyone of them
So, you eat mosquitoes, cockroaches and mice, correct?
Wildlife, including lions and elephants have to be managed.
We are the only species that can do it.
“ if you don’t eat it, don’t kill it.”
As others have pointed out, trophy hunting is a sustainable way to fund conservation and support populations.
Elephants are eaten. Don’t know about lions.
They are going to die anyway (average lifespan is about 10-15 years), about the same as a dog.
There are many ignorant opinions here by people that didn’t bother to learn the first thing about African safari hunting.
Tell that story to the villagers who get the meat from these trophy kills. Lions are a dime a dozen in Africa and they turn problematic at times. These hunters pay big bucks to eliminate them.
