On the radio this song was usually paired with “Let the Sun Shine In.” When I decided the pandemic was over in early summer 2021, I asked friends on social media for songs to celebrate coming out of it, which I planned to use to create a playlist. One of my friends suggested “Let the Sun Shine In.”

My hypothetical playlist already had “Mr. Blue Sky,” “I Can See Clearly Now,” the Vera Lynn version of “I’ll Be Seeing You” and lots of other good stuff. I added my friend’s recommendation to the list even though I didn’t quite get it. Still, looking back from 222 it’s a worthy addition in the end to the list.

It was a fun song at the time - And it’s pretty open-ended: nobody seems sure of when the ‘Age’ began or will begin:

There was never a pandemic greater than 2009 (H1N1) this century.

The China Virus only had a survivability rate of only 99.97%

No, I think it was different from those. It always seemed like a hopeful wish to me - like ‘Over the Rainbow’ for another generation:

Aquarius
The 5th Dimension

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
Age of Aquarius
Aquarius
Aquarius
Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind’s true liberation
Aquarius

Marilyn McCoo was just gorgeous , probably one of the most beautiful black women I had ever seen back in the 1960’s along with Judy Pace.

Everytime I heard this on local radio, it would fade out, then I’d hear the blasts of a trumpet, announcing the intro for ‘Let The Sunshine In’. So, I’d always heard it as a
Phase #1, followed by Phase #2 song,

Sort of like
Paul McCartney’s “Uncle Albert, which ends with a Choo-Choo Chorus that is never heard elsewhere on that single.

I loved this at the end of 40 Year Old Virgin. It was apt, and the cast looked like they had a really good time filming it. One of those moments that Hollywood was still somewhat capable of back then. Are they still? I doubt it.

Astrological silliness but catchy tune. After checking out their greatest hits album online, I was reminded that they had quite a few, but this is the one that seems to be remembered the most.

As I recall, Marilyn McCoo’s Wedding Bell Blues went away when Bill (Davis) married her, and they’re still married after 50+ years. They are both born-again Christians, so Heaven will have some more excellent voices in the heavenly choir in the future, which will make up for those of us who are not thusly gifted.

It’s like those America songs that the words made no sense. Been through the desert on a horse with no name….

Whenever I hear Uncle Albert I expect to hear the opening to Smile Away.
