For more detail go to the link and click on the image for a high definition image. You can then move the magnifying glass cursor then click to zoom in and click again to zoom out. When zoomed in you can scan by moving the side bars on the bottom and right side of the image.

I did the math calculations a long long time ago but I figured that on Phobos the Martian planet will take up half the sky from horizon to horizon. That may be a little scary for an astronaut standing on Phobos.

Hence its use as the setting for the original DOOM series on MS-DOS. I loved those games... Bethesda’s remake moved the labs to the surface of Mars. I don’t think the moons were mentioned.

In perhaps 50 million years, Phobos is expected to disintegrate into a ring of debris. Why would it disintegrate rather than crash into Mars? The atmosphere is too thin to break it up or burn it
