Wait. I read the article and it is already in place. Heavens to Betsy, it got up to a whopping 50 degrees on the top of the mountain in summer. Shocking!

The Trento provincial government said rescue operations were in progress after a large "ice avalanche" involving hikers, adding that there was likely to be a "heavy toll". I have to show this to my wife. She keeps telling me I'll live longer if I get out more and walk or hike more.
I can see it now, "Really? What if I get hit by a meteorite while I'm out there? Or a glacier falls on me? Oh, that can't happen? Well here's this article..."

It looks to be an ice patch on a rocky outcrop on the side of the mountain. It was not global baloney warming but gravity that played a big part in the ice and snow falling.
