Valentine Smith, ‘the Owner of Mars’ was a very popular concept during the 1960s when persons gathered together into Communal life styles popularized by the Media.

Of course none of those communes lasted very long. Just ask Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders who got kicked off of a Kibbutz in Israel for being a lazy POS. That Commune might still be thriving but not because of the likes of that weasel.

Anyhow, the total misread of ‘Stranger’ has long been curious to me. I am unsure when Heinlein passed, but for sure he would have deleted that work if he had ever seen how the really strange people misconstrued it.
