Where to move in retirement?

Posted on 07/02/2022 7:41:27 AM PDT by LouAvul

I'm in Oklahoma and appreciate the politics (Constitutional Carry; outlawed abortion) but don't like the weather.

I've lived in Florida, Ohio, Alabama, North Carolina, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky and California. I like the weather in Michigan and California but don't like the politics.

I'd like milder summers and can handle cold winters. Long spring and fall weather is good.

Retirement age and all, so good medicine is important.

By the time we make the move (~2 to 3 years, likely) whatever adjustment the housing market will make will be done. Don't anticipate having to finance anything, etc.

Also, I'm a firearms "accumulator." Carry concealed 90% of the time and that's important. Constitutional firearms laws are always important.

What says the FR braintrust?

I moved to a little north of Tulsa about three years ago from the San Antonio area.

I moved here because its more rural, and the cost of living is a lot less even than Texas, and quite a bit less than where I come from: New England - lived there for half a century.

I got tired of the snow shoveling and the foaming at the mouth liberal ‘intelligentsia’ - they are EVERYWHERE and can’t be entirely avoided. I like it here in America. Yeah, its warm in summer (today for sure) but its worth it to me.
