Uncle Charlie and his Dog Teddy is a fantastic album! The songs on it have so many covers it is hard to list. Thanks for the post.

Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves — two of the greatest voices in country music.
I continue to be surprised at the number of times a Patsy Cline song plays in various recent movies and TV dramas.

I was raised on Bob Wills, Grand Ole Opry music, Hank Snow, Hank Williams, and went to sleep as a child listing to it on the radio. Then came years with no C&W music. We got a TV.
In 1968, a friend loaned me some country music and I didn’t care for it, until I hit the Bob Wills record! WOW! It hit! Still a fan of Bob Wills and Spade Cooley and the 1930s and ‘40s music! I still remember seeing the advertisements in THE TULSA WORLD for Bob Wills at Cain’s Ball Room!
Woody Guthrie...He also loaned me his record. I did not care for it. He would sing and play, then when he stopped singing he also stopped playing and the music would just die. No intro, no exit.
Jimmie Rodgers: He loaned me that record. Did not care for the yodeling. Otherwise it was OK.
Got lots of CDs from Bob Wills, Spade Cooley and others from the 1930s-1950s.

Willie Nelson doesn't belong in that company.
I've given Woody Guthrie every chance.. big overrated, imo. But, okay, tastes, fair enough.
But not Nelson. He sucks big time.

Williams stands head and shoulders above everyone else on the list.
And it left out the other two giants, Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers.
I also think Robert Johnson is there with Williams, Carters and Rodgers.

Although 'folk' and Country roll together in some areas, Woody Guthrie is a long way away from Hank Williams. Same for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
My wife and her brothers went to Jordan High in Long Beach, CA at the same time as Bruce Kunkel. Her older brothers, knew him, she just knew who he was. Together my wife and I saw the NGDB at the Golden Bear and the Marina Palace in Seal Beach. Never thought of them as being a "Country Band" per se.

One person worthy of being mentioned that most never heard of:
George D. Hay .
He was the man responsible for founding the Grand Ol Opry. Without that radio show and the shows at the Ryman, Country Music would not have taken off as it did.

Is it folk, or rock, or country? Seems like everybody knows but us “Partners Brothers and Friends” - NGDB.
