To frighten you into clicking on the website. “Science” websites are now some of the worst for clickbait and outright lies.

Surprise solar storm with ‘disruptive potential’ slams into Earth
By Harry Baker 06/28/2022
https://www.livescience.com/surprise-solar-storm-hits-earth
“The surprise solar storm hit Earth just before midnight UTC June 25 and continued throughout most of June 26, according to Spaceweather.com(opens in new tab). Scientists classified it as a G1-class storm, which means it was strong enough to create weak power grid fluctuations, cause minor impacts to satellite operation, disrupt the navigational abilities of some migrating animals, and cause unusually strong auroras.”

The Sun rotates and the Earth is revolving around the Sun. Any sunspot pointed at Earth would only being doing so for a relatively short amount of time I would think.

The Sun rotates and the Earth is revolving around the Sun. Any sunspot pointed at Earth would only being doing so for a relatively short amount of time I would think. That's very true, but look at a current image of the sun for today, June 30. There are NO candidate sunspots anywhere near the general central portion of the sun that could cause the calamity described in the article.
