The greenhouse gas thing is nothing but a lie
Algore made up the lie by making it look like it was plastic over a glass. The entire movie was a fraud to scare kids and became required viewing in school.

The name itself is preposterous and a really bad analogy.
A greenhouse is a physical enclosure made of glass or plastic which keeps the heat transfer mechanism known as convection from taking place. The hot air inside the greenhouse is not allowed to mix with the cooler air outside, thus the inside air stays warm.
Free floating co2 in the atmosphere has no such confinement. It can transfer energy to other air molecules and to outer space using all three heat transfer mechanisms - conduction, convection and radiation. So it’s nothing like a greenhouse. Hence a bad analogy.
