Seriously there can be no such thing as the greatest any movie. How many times have those boring droning drecks, Gone with the Wind and Citizen Kane been lionized? The idea is pure solipsism.

My wife and I watch the original “The Thing” every couple of years. It still creeps us out and I’ve been reviewing it since I first saw it when it was on TV when I was 10. That is one powerful movie. Modern film makers could learn a lot about how worthless modern CGI effects can be without a good story and competent acting.

I love that movie. The indefinite ending was the best way to end it, IMHO.

Love that picture, it’s kind of campy and I really like actor Kenneth Tobey, the remake with Kurt Russell was okay but way too gory and didn’t need to be.

Thanks for your insight.

I agree it’s hard to say what is the best of any kind of film.

Lately I’ve been watching a lot of pre-1950 films. Lots of good acting and writing even many of the “B” films out class the dreck being pushed out of Hollowwood today especially from the silent era.
