Is it really English literature, or Marxist studies in disguise?

Employers these days prefer people who take Angry Lesbian Acrobat Studies over people who can read.

The course alone may not be bad. What needs to be eliminated are most of the humanities degrees.

No one studies “Womyn’s Studies”, “Black History” and 300 other “courses” to get highly paid jobs, either. They all need to go away.

A friend is an english professor at a local community college.

Someone needs to teach them English, because many of these kids/young adults seem to have never learned it in their previous 12 years of public schooling. Their essays are awful. They can’t show that to an employer who is offering a career, or they wouldn’t stand a chance.

A 20 something I know is a financial advisor with finance degree. Says she uses her knowledge of literature to judge what people might do, to determine trends in eco and Econ systems, to illustrate situations and ideas and to socialize and network among other things

Dumb it down. Hate western civ. Good idea. Not

I remember when I took English Lit. in college.

That’s when I had my best afternoon naps.

But they are keeping Islamic literature, I’ll bet.

They should have started with gender studies.... After all, how can you study something you can’t even define?

Perhaps they are cancelling an english literature degree or curriculum.

I took some non-technical courses like English literature. Can’t say I enjoyed them all that much but learning about a variety of subjects is good whether you take it in a university or peruse the internet.

Easy, hobby degrees are not the fast route to the CEO/billionaire corporate positions. But, math, or the STEM studies is hard.

Who knew?

My brother has a number of acquaintances who got socialism degrees.
All they do now is complain how little they make and how retirement is going to be very tough.
