It appears this story about “Pavel” may be a fake according to what appears to be careful research. Or could it be a complicated set up to accuse Ukraine of making things up and proving that everything Russia or Pooty Pals say is the truth? This was suggested in this post at comment #42. Below is the link for the newly posted research that “proves” this story is a fake. Does it really do that?

Your dichotomy is entirely unnecessary. You don't have to completely ignore the existence of Russian propaganda to acknowledge the fact that Daily Mail also posts lots of propaganda, albeit from a different angle.
For perspective: the two individuals in the original Twitter thread (Rien Emmery and Lotte Lambrecht) work as fact-checkers for a Belgian magazine called Knack. As you can see from here and here shows that they are evenhanded with their fact-checking, both for and against Russia and Ukraine.

Unless you think any of the evidence gathered by Rien and Lotte to debunk the Daily Star was fake, what reason do you have to doubt it?
