Rita Moreno spoke out this Friday about the botched illicit abortion she had during her romance with Marlon Brando, years before Roe v. Wade.
Her remarks came the day the US Supreme Court overturned Roe, the landmark 1973 ruling that guaranteed abortion rights throughout the country.
The 90-year-old told Variety she had her pregnancy terminated by 'a real doctor - Marlon paid him $500 - as opposed to something in a back alley.'
Rita and Marlon met in 1954 and began a tempestuous eight-year affair that was scarred by his womanizing and eventually drove her to attempt suicide.
During the time that he was with Rita, Marlon married his first two wives and produced children with both of them.
Rita wrote in her memoirs that when she herself became pregnant: 'To my shock and horror, Marlon immediately arranged for an abortion.'
She claimed that Marlon would not even pick her up after the illicit procedure himself, enlisting one of his friends for the task instead.
n her new Variety interview, she remembered that 'Marlon found a doctor through some friends' to perform the abortion.
'Marlon took me to the hospital. I had what they told me was a 'disturbed pregnancy.' The doctor didn't do anything really, except make me bleed. In other words, he didn't do it right,' she shared. 'I didn't know it then, but I could have died. What a mess. What a dreadful mess.'
In her memoirs she laid out the medical problem in further detail, explaining that as a consequence of the bungled procedure she still had a dead fetus in her body and had to dash to the hospital to have it excised.

“Just reinforcing the reality that ‘free love’ isn’t free. The woman ends up paying.”
Yes. But the brainwashed dummies now say they need abortion for their “health” seemingly not knowing it has a list of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual consequences/after-effects as long as one’s arm:
Death.
Internal injuries like a perforated uterus or other damaged internal organs.
Infertility.
Increased breast cancer risk.
Regret.
Shame.
Depression.
Guilt, which can result in hypochondria.
Substance abuse, alcohol or drugs.
Anxiety.
PTSD symptoms like freaking out at the sound of a vacuum.
Nightmares.
Suicidal ideation and attempts, some successful.
Destroyed relationships, destroyed marriages.
Coldness towards other children.
And the new one, bleeding out from pills.
What DRAMA one spares oneself by obeying God’s Laws. As someone has said: We don’t break God’s Commandments, They stand. We break ourselves against them.
Rita slept around with many guys at the same time she was seeing other guys plus when she was married.

The “Botched Abortions” would be a cool band name!
How was it “botched” ? It was murdered in the womb. Mission accomplished, Rita. You sad and demented woman.
Not really religious but I recognize life when I see it.
Sorry it just not seem to work that way. Some women will not do it and get in one abusive relationship after another, it’s like that is all they know. I knew someone like that, no matter how kind and gentleman I was, she kept going back to the worst. I gave up. I agree she made her own misery. But I do understand that brith control options were very limited, not today they aren’t.
Look, I’ve been in this type of situation. Abortion was NEVER an option, no matter what.
