I hate scallops. Can they make it taste like chicken? Asking for a friend.
China used to have pink river dolphins. Then the rivers became too polluted and they went extinct, very recently. But hey, we have to get our cheap sh!t from somewhere, don’t we?
I was curious myself. I assumed they cooked it up and ate it.
Per the article, it was tagged and released.
There are freshwater dolphins in the Mekong in Cambodia:

They’re super cute, too!
Yes and there are some in the Amazon, but the pink ones are gone unfortunately.
The largest sturgeon on record was a beluga female captured in the Volga Delta in 1827, measuring 7.2 m (23 ft 7 in) long and weighing 1,571 kg (3,463 lb).

Several on this thread are saying they taste like scallops. I love scallops, so if that’s the case, I may take up fishing for them myself.
Actually come to think of it I do remember something about pink freshwater dolphins. And I just saw a YouTube video about whales venturing inland in Washington state. I knew some ocean fish could handle brackish waters, but was surprised to hear some could survive in freshwater too. I haven’t fished since I was a kid so I’m not really up on these things.
Good news! Still endangered, but not all gone, and lately making something of a comeback:
They’re still in the Gulf of Thailand, too:

I do hope they can be saved.
Oops! My #30 was meant for you.
Can’t wait for that camera whore Jeremy Wade to go hunting for the bigger “Monster Fish in the Mekong Delta”.........LOL!
Thanks! I wanted to take my kid to see the pink dolphins because she loves animals and her favorite color is pink.
I was going to show her pictures of the pink dolphins but didn’t want to have to tell her they are extinct. Good thing they found them alive.
Aw, I hope she enjoys the pictures. I was a real animal lover as a girl, too (still am). I wanted to be a marine biologist and be like a female Jacque Cousteau. The 4th grade boys teased me about wanting to be a Marine like Gomer Pyle when I grew up, but they only meant it good-naturedly as a clumsy boyish 4th grade joke, so I didn’t mind, even thought it kinda funny for a boy joke.
That would be so cool to take her to see them!
They’ve been a tourist thing in Thailand for a long, long time. (Some thirty years ago, I was so tempted to go see them when I lived and worked almost directly across the Gulf from where they are — I did get to see other cool sea life from our boat there, though, and when I could get a chance to go snorkelling.)
I wonder if you will still be able to see the Pearl River ones in Hong Kong after boat traffic picking up again after Covid, though :(
Crikey!! She’s a beauty she is!
Good question, there are bull sharks in Lake Nicaragua.

Yes....... but. I would suggest this old ray would be tough beyond measure
Are “deep sea” scollpps actially cut from rays as opposed to bay scollops that have classic shaped shells?
