As a result of the mishap, some passengers had to fly without their bags, while others dealt with check-in delays as long as two hours.

Oh no a Die Hard Day
“some passengers had to fly without their bags, while others dealt with check-in delays as long as two hours”
hell anyone who’s flown even semi-regularly has had to deal with that on occasion.
Monty Python did a song called “I’m So Worried”. One of the things they were worried about was the luggage retrieval system at Heathrow. Very prescient!
This entire event could have been prevented by Ivermectin and/or HCQ.
Remmber the days when your luggage often went to much cooler places than you did?
The first time I flew standby was soon after marrying my flight attendant wife. The gate agent checked in the bag and put it on the conveyor belt. Then he looked up the load and told us “I don’t know if you guys are going to get on”. We all turned toward the large suitcase as it disappeared down the chute. He then turned to us and said with a smile “But your suitcase is going.”
Funny.
Had the opportunity to fly in and out of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport a couple of times for work in the early 2000s.
After security they put us on a tram that took us to our gate via the tarmac....I saw luggage falling off of baggage carts more times than I can remember and nobody was bothering to pick it up either, it just laid there for who knows how long.....it’s a wonder anyone gets their bags ever. SMH.
Wear EVERYTHING in your suitcase...leave the empty suitcase behind...no worries.
