I always look for the REAL story behind a lot of these such stories.

I almost never hear the REAL story begin these home invasion incidents. Reporters do not want to bother with follow-up stories.

I do know the starting assumption for police investigators is that a group of armed robbers was trying to rip off a drug dealer or a warehouser.

The victims of a home invasion may get some harsh and unsympathetic questions at first contact with the police. It passes. The investigators usually find things are very different from their initial assumptions and modify their efforts accordingly.
