The suspect allegedly behind a shooting at an Alabama church that saw two seniors killed was a regular attendee at the house of worship, cops have revealed. Speaking to the press Friday, police said the gunman was in attendance at he Alabama Episcopalian church at the time of the shooting Thursday, at a meeting billed as a 'Boomers' Potluck.'
The suspect, identified as a 71-year-old white male and an 'occasional attendee of the church' Friday, pulled out the firearm roughly an hour into 5pm event, and shot three attendees, two fatally.
The gunman had reportedly concealed the gun, a pistol, before opening fire at the potluck dinner.
Police said a 'hero' Good Samaritan who also attended the event prevented more casualties by restraining the suspect at the scene, striking him with a chair and holding him to the ground until police arrived.
At a news conference Friday morning, Vestavia Hills police provided some details on the shooting, such as the identities of the victims - but did not release a name or motive for the incarcerated suspect, who faces capital murder charges.
The suspect reportedly called himself Mr. Smith and was sitting alone at the event when a fellow congregant invited him to their table.
The man then refused, witnesses said, producing the handgun and opening fire.

A silver lining would be people getting upset enough to bring back the death penalty. Not as an empty threat, as it has been for years, but the real “strap them in ol’ sparky and throw the switch” deal. If I read this correctly;
An occasional attendee, who was a regular churchgoer (different church, maybe) shot a dead woman (that is abuse of a corpse),then shot two living persons (Homicide) at a “Boomer Potluck”. A dinner or picnik, I assume.
The ;priest’ running from the scene was wearing a ‘collar’ not used by the Episopal priests, if memory serves. Compare the collar the female priest is wearing to the one the running ‘priest’ is wearing. Somone needs to identify that running man. Just because the shooter is 71 does not mean he does not have connection to MK Ultra and has a handler.
It was the silent generation and the ‘greatest generation’ that gave us the 60s, boomers were just children, babies and young people then.

The boomer generation of 76 million were born between 1946 and 1964.
The massive, post-war first wave of boomers hit high schools and colleges in the early 1960's and adulthood by the mid-1960's.
The 1960's are a boomer legacy.
It puzzles me how people think that the boomers were the 60s leaders and creators of the counter culture and largely running America.
The boomers were little kids, some weren’t even born yet in 1963. The oldest boomer turned 14 in 1960, the boomers didn’t run anything, or even make up the music of the 60s, much less government and wars, politics, business, court decisions, the American culture, Hollywood, run universities, teaching, TV, print media, or much of anything.
What teens and 5 year olds are running the world today?
