An Alabama teen has been accepted to more than 15 universities, including Harvard and Johns Hopkins, and has been awarded more than $2 million in scholarship offers.
Rotimi Kukoyi, a high school senior and the first Black National Merit Scholar at his school, is from Hoover, Alabama. He told ABC News he was inspired to apply to a number of places after appearing on the "Jeopardy!" Teen Tournament as a freshman in 2018, and meeting high achieving students from across the country.

Must be nice to have skin of a color important enough or significant enough for the descriptor thereof to be capitalized by all reporters by virtue of the official newsroom editorial policy and style book.
So it sounds like he grew up in a two parent family.
There are some advantages to being tutored individually or in small groups for the SAT/ACT exams; however, there are several excellent study guides to help one prepare for those exams. I used one for the GMAT and obtained a good score.

I have worked with several Nigerian Pharmacists in the VA. They were from Nigeria or their parents were from Nigeria. They were excellent pharmacists.
At one time my wife (social worker) intervened on behalf of an African immigrant family. Both parents worked liked dogs at multiple jobs (incredible work ethic) and the four year old stayed at home with the non english speaking grandma.
Wifey got this child into preschool for socialization and PRESTO!!! In six months the child was speaking English.
When time came for regular school she was off the charts intelligence wise and was moved into an environment of advanced learning. That was 22 years ago.
She had great and good parents encouraging her all the way.
