Republican Rep. Tom Rice lost his solidly conservative South Carolina House seat Tuesday after nearly a decade in Congress, which included his vote to impeach former President Donald Trump over the Jan. 6 riots.
SOUTH CAROLINA PROVIDES NEXT TEST OF TRUMP'S ENDORSEMENT POWER
Although Rice repeated his support for many Trump policies as he campaigned across South Carolina's 7th Congressional District, from Myrtle Beach to the Pee Dee region, he defended his decision to impeach Trump as "the principled stance."
"My opinion is that our Constitution is too precious to risk," he said during the district's five-way Republican debate.
Trump responded by endorsing South Carolina state Rep. Russell Fry. Fry blasted Rice, not only for his impeachment vote, but he also made allegations of self-enrichment and slammed the incumbent for his Democratic outreach. In reaction, Rice, a former tax lawyer, focused his hefty war chest on Fry, ripping him as "a tax-and-spender."
Fry on Tuesday secured more than 50% of the primary vote, avoiding a runoff with Rice on June 28.
Rice's race has received national attention, in part because of Trump's rally in the district. But Rice himself invited out-of-state Republicans to stump with him, such as former House Speaker Paul Ryan and ex-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, amplifying his Trump record.

“My opinion is that our Constitution is too precious to risk.”
What a jackass.
Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind…
“But Rice himself invited out-of-state Republicans to stump with him, such as former House Speaker Paul Ryan and ex-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, amplifying his Trump record.”
Can’t believe that didn’t help...
Exactly! And you should've defended it.
Those two RINOs? Yeah, that’ll win ‘em over.
Because of his craven cowardice, the demoncraps (and RINOs) are about to cancel the Constitution's 2nd Amendment.
“But Rice himself invited out-of-state Republicans to stump with him, such as former House Speaker Paul Ryan and ex-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, amplifying his Trump record.”
I don’t even understand this sentence. How could either of these two, two of the biggest TRUMP HATERS that exist, ‘amplify’ Rice’s ‘Trump record’ - might as well invited Hillary, or Mark Levin. Was there no one else willing to show up with him?
When you hear a politician use the word “principled” you can be assured that he is ready to betray you.
Good.
I know it’s in bad taste to wish ill on people, but losing isn’t enough for this loser. I hope he comes down with a bad case of COVID, AIDS and Sodompox.
He didn’t just lose, he was crushed.
Lost by more than 2 - 1. 51-25
Looks like the Posse over at the War Room, is having a good day. I think that if anybody came and filled the gap for Rush Limbaugh, it was Steve K. Bannon.
On both Monday and Tuesday, I implored voters in the Tuesday Primaries to “Choose wisely”.
It would seem that at least one district in South Carolina did.
Thank you, my friends
Wow, the swamp establishment just isn’t having a good day on either side of this. Progs are in a funk about the world coming down around their ears too - but that is exactly what they wanted.
Did he really really think January 6 was an insurrection? I think the man just couldn’t admit he was wrong, so he tried to play it all off as “principal”. Period.
A harbinger of things to come I hope.
So now Rice will run as an independent, split the vote and the Democrat will win in November.
I keep telling people that it doesn’t matter if you are democrat or republicans, VOTE ALL INCUMBENTS OUT in the primaries!
