Yes. They write entertaining stories that you can follow along. They understand the basics of writing. This makes young Hollywood writers look like the incompetent frauds they are.
I read a bit as a hobby. Mostly short fiction, mostly Lovecraftian horror.
I noticed that the stories used to, up until about five-ten years ago, be written by white men aged about 40 and up.
In the past five or ten years, I’ve seen publishers printing works by woman and foreigners a lot more than they had ever before.
The vast majority of those, to me, seems like something that wouldn’t have made the publishing cutting table otherwise.
I wish they would go back to judging each story based on the narrative of each story rather than the narrative of the author.
