If the K-12 public school system was given the same treatment as the Roman Catholic Church, people would be stunned at the amount of abuse that goes on. Instead, each case is treated akin to a “lone wolf,” instead of being treated as part of a systemic problem.

Well, if we find out that the schools were receiving reports of thousands of cases of abuse, and decided to “handle them internally” instead of report the abusers to the police, and kept the abusers employed, even employed around small children, just shifting them around to other schools, then I think you could expect to see the same level of outrage that was directed at the Catholic church.
Lawyers can’t make money suing the public school system; sovereign immunity and all that.
