I actually came across someone who used the same strategy to create a fake identity. She was the captain of the yacht on which my wife and I married. If I hadn’t brought my own minister, this woman would have married us. Other’s who got married on that company’s boats were concerned that their marriage licenses would be invalidated.
This woman was the co-owner of the yacht chartering business and was caught when she applied to renew her US passport. She was wanted as a person of interest in the murder of her husband in California almost two decades before. She and the other owner “Captain John” moved from California to the greater Houston area. Currently the woman is in federal prison while “Captain John” died in a nursing home from Alzheimer’s disease.
I didn’t think that using a dead childs birth certificate would still work. When you show up with it the clerk nver checks if there is a death certificate.

There was a time, not so long ago, that I would have read this story as one of depraved criminality.
Today, however, I read it as an adventure story, and admire her devious mind and chutzpah, and am disappointed in myself that I lack the same qualities.
Why should only our elite masters get to loot the now corrupt government??
She got busted because her story was so elaborate and was impossible to remember and keep straight. Had she kept it simple she may not have been caught. But serial liars can’t control themselves.
I bet she voted as well. Does she now qualify as a Soros backed candidate for District Attorney?
She should have gotten elected first. Big mistake.
It’s not a complicated algorithm to run against databases to ‘flag’ certain individuals who have adopted the identity of the deceased.
I guarantee that this sort of fraud will become increasingly difficult as the years progress (at least in the US).
