No one would work minimum wage jobs if they were not subsidized by government. The profits of Walmart and other corporations come largely from the fact there workforce is subsidized by the welfare state. Companies should be paying their own workforces not pocketing profits that only exist from the fact their employees are being supported by the taxpayers.
Who actually benefits from this? This is something I think the left and right should agree on. The left hates billionaire corporations and the right hates the welfare state and wasteful spending. Subsidizing Walmart workers costs the US taxpayers about 8 billion dollars a year, while the Walmart profit is 13 billion.
I’m not sure the exact solution but it is ridiculous that taxpayers are subsidizing the workforce of a large corporation while the government is running massive deficits and there are homeless disabled vets on the streets. Those jobs and workers only can exist due to government subsidies.
This is corporate socialism in action.
You obviously can’t even comprehend the premise 🤣
What is the motivation for a worker earning 9$ an hour to make any attempts to earn a higher wage when they are getting the equivalent of 10-15$ an hour in housing, SNAP and healthcare benefits that they will lose if their wage increases.
On the flip side what benefit is there for a corporation to pay 20$ an hour instead of 10$ an hour if the government will subsidize their workforce with benefits that amount to 10$ an hour( minus 1$ an hour for every dollar over 10$ an hour they make)
The problem is obvious to anyone with an IQ over room temperature, if you can’t see it that says ALOT about you.
Not everything is “liberal” or “conservatives or “black or white” try grow out of the binary thinking
There are maverick democrats, tulsi gabard, Yang and sanders off the top of my head.
There is no more independent media. All the media does is try their hardest to push what narrative benefits their parties interests. Republicans have caught up democrats no longer have any real media advantage.

The fact that taxpayers pay some of the health-care, housing and other costs for the American poor makes it harder, not easier, for Walmart to persuade such people to come to work for Walmart.
I don’t think the corporations lobbied hard for this at all. I think the Dems have always engaged in vote buying with welfare spending.
I had a grandmother that bussed tables a couple of days a week practically up until she died because she wanted the exercise and the excuse to get out and meet people. I am sure she enjoyed the money, but having something to do was way more important.
She liked bussing tables because it was simple and easy and allowed for chit chat with the regulars.
Should her SS and Medicare be penalized for that? Ah hell no.
Young people who are go getters and willing to work 40-60/wk don’t stay in these starter, part-time, subsidized positions for long. They move up into management or move on to better jobs. If people are “stuck” in them, it’s because they choose it.
I’d be happy to end the welfare system overnight, but I’m not going to fault corporations for being willing to hire from the shallow end of the pool to meet their workforce needs.
My FRiend, you can, if you want, reply with longer and more useless comments, repeat yourself over and over, but your post will still be stupid.
These are some issues that politicians and the media should focus the national debate on, but sadly divisive culture war nonsense that is entirely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things like figure out what a “women“ is is what gets the ratings.
They have been talking about this for 15 years at least
You don’t just instantly lose your benefits if you have a job, that is a misconception.
What is the motivation for a worker earning 9$ an hour to make any attempts to earn a higher wage, get an education or training when they are getting the equivalent of 10-15$ an hour in housing, SNAP and healthcare benefits that they will lose if their wage increases.

Do you think this problem is getting better or worse? Im in my 20s so don’t have much to go off of.
Yes, there are ‘maverick’ democrats and Gabard, Yang and Sanders are among them. But notice NOT ONE of them are the toast of the town or often quoted on big issues. In fact those three are uniformly ignored by the MSM.
And no, Republicans have not caught up with democrats with media advantage.
America’s largest newspaper chain Gannett, the largest newspaper chain in the country has decided to drop their biased op-ed sections. That’s their big bow to fairness. They should be adding conservative voices but they’re not.
And as far as my local paper is concerned - there hasn’t been one conservative working in the newsroom in over 40 years.
What the media does is follow the New York Times in this order: NYTimes to large newspapers and large networks to local papers and local channels to to all the little guys.
So what though? The publics trust in the media is at an all time low, no one takes it seriously anymore except extreme partisan ideologues that have created echo chambers for their opinions. This goes for the left and right.
The market apparently wants to have their preconceived biases repeated back to them over and over. The news media is all about validating it’s audiences opinions instead of presenting actual news. All you need to do is turn on MSNBC OAN CNN fox or any of the largest outlets to see this.
I think most intelligent people who don’t want to be spoonfeed a narrative are now getting their news from the internet.
Bull shit. Balderdasious drivel
The media attacks anyone who challenges the status quo. Remember Ron Paul?
Are you too stupid to explain your opinion without resorting to spewing nonsense words? 🤣 The problem is obvious to anyone with an IQ over room temperature, if you can’t see it that says ALOT about you. 🤡

Welcome to FR.
Why not post links, to articles, or proof of what you’re posting about...like exact proof that Walmart (and, any other corporations) are subsidized, with tax dollars, when they hire those who are already on welfare?
I believe I’ve read that McDonald’s does this, but, this is the first I’ve heard of Walmart doing so. Not that I’m doubting it....it would be of benefit if you had actual links, to what you’re suggesting.
I’d also be curious if the corporations stated ‘minimum hourly wage’ includes any government /OUR tax $$ subsidizing.
Writers who rely on cartoon figures rather than words are deemed irrelevant and unbelievable.
It doesn’t matter what I write if someone lacks the critical thinking skills and intelligence to either comprehend or dispute the premise. 🤡
