My Yellow Lab, Lucy, was really good at bringing in critters, too. One Chipmunk was NEVER found - and I cleaned every square INCH of that farmhouse when I put it up for sale, LOL!
I would LOVE a Maine Coon Cat. Being owned by one has always been on my Bucket List. Right now Eva and Boyd are only four years old, so they should be with us for a while. (Brother and Sister from the neighbor’s ‘Barn Cat Collection.’ Fixed. American Shorthairs; Boyd is a black and white Tuxedo and Eva is a brown Tabby with white.)
I told Beau when I moved in at his farm that I did NOT want ANY pets in the house! After cleaning up after men and three teens and too many pets to name for two decades, I had had it!
That lasted about 10 minutes! So far there have been two cats, two Basset Hounds, the Beagle, a few adult dogs we were fostering/training for others and any and all puppies I’ve raised in the off-season when it’s too cold for them in the barn or kennel shed.

I have had some REALLY good cats ... when people say they “don’t like cats”, I tell them it’s probably because they’ve never had a really ‘good’ one .... loving, sweet, affectionate, etc.
So I am totally in love with the ‘calico’ coloration. My “bucket list” cat is a Calico Maine Coon. My vet years ago, when I had a calico cat, told me she did research on calicos in vet school ... their personalities tend to be a little different, more complex, and the only way I can describe it is that they play chess when other color patterns are playing checkers. She confirmed the different personalities & also that genetically, they are almost all females. If you are looking at a litter of kittens & want a female, if there’s a calico in the litter, that’s the one you want.
Anyway, I have been intrigued with Maine Coon cats for year. My SIL has a cat that is part Maine Coon & he is the neatest guy. One of these days, maybe I’ll be able to have one (the folks are NO animals in the house & they aren’t budging).

My calico was a “Halloween” cat - mostly black with smudges of tan/cream mixed in her coat (not a lot) and 4 white paws, white on her belly, a white “ruff” & a half black, half tan nose. Her hair was long, Persian-like, golden-green eyes. She was gorgeous.
Daisy - although adorable - wasn't exactly too bright.
Every spring she would chase and eat EVERY flying insect
that she saw. Until she got her first bee or wasp.
Her stung snout would swell up like a grapefruit -
and she would spend the rest of the summer RUNNING AWAY
FROM every flying insect she saw. And she did that every
year of her life - she never learned. As I said - not too bright.
