One could, I suppose, imagine some “right-wing dictator” who would play the Cinncinatus role, throw the laws temporarily out the window, execute thousands of bad people in Washington, really clean house in thorough and appalling ways, and get the country back on the right track. And then step down.
But we know that won’t happen.
So there is no solution. There is only further decline in our future.
I fear you are right. Who’s going to pick up a rifle and march on Washington when it’s the last hope? I doubt that many will. We’ ve become used to the machinations of DC and become comfortable with what our government does.
The only way to even begin to change what is, is very messy and modern people don’t have the stomach for it. Even if it is to save themselves.
One thing I do know is that I have had enough of hearing “our democracy”.
We no longer have one.
