Buy as much as you need now before people start buying it to heat their homes.

Lumber went to all time highs in 2020 and 2021 because of an increase in demand at the same time as decrease in production.
Production has finally increased to meet demand. So, prices are coming back down to where they normal range they were in pre covid.

Fine by me.
I put off a couple of unessential projects last year because of prices. Might be a good summer to have some fun building again

Lumber is still 35% higher than pre-pandemic, so it’s coming down to reality.

Can I borrow $10 for gas so I can go get some less expensive lumber?

I put off a couple of unessential projects last year because of prices. I did too. The deck really needs to be redone but it'll keep. Had to re-roof the barn in January of '21 due to a tree fall and the contractor nearly fainted when he found out what had happened to plywood prices over the preceding two weeks. He had to station two of his crew at his usual sources to snap up whatever came up for sale before it was gone. And I was lucky.

We started a major renovation on our house in March of '21. In February, the contractor/architect suggested that I authorize him to purchase all the lumber immediately. I agreed and he did.
three months later the price had dramatically increased. He saved me a good amount of change.

Still getting decent prices for timber. Timberland owners never saw a bump from the high prices from last year.

Same here. I need 15 sheets of T1-11. It was 70$ a sheet! I will consider purchasing it now.

by hatchet, axe, and saw. That's all you need to build kitchen cabinets.
