I had a similar experience but didn't shoot the barber.
On the elevator, a trainee standing behind me is having difficulty stifling a laugh one morning.
Exiting I ask WTF? He said, cutting your hair in the mirror? It's running on a 45 left to right!
I had used the same barber for years and had recently retired and sold the shop; the new guy was a jamoke.
The crusty old engineers I worked with always said to cut your own hair.
My wife said she noticed but didn't want me to get excited and said nothing because it would grow out.
That day I bought a set of clippers on the way home...
No more barber shops for me.
