This is interesting, he is calling out Theodore Roosevelt's Bull Moose party as a party of socialism and centralized planning. Once President though, Wilson carried out the Bull Moose program.

You can thank Wilson for direct election of senators, income taxes, and a plethora of other progressive causes. Wilson did more to harm the nation than practically any other president.

If anybody wants on/off the revolutionary progressivism ping list, send me a message
Progressives do not want to discuss their own history. I want to discuss their history. Summary: Progressivism hasn't changed much in substance. Only the window dressing is more colorful.

Wilson may actually be *the* worst president in American history. A flat out racist, he segregated blacks within Federal positions, thus ensuring a two-tier system would be perpetuated. He promised no involvement in WW1, then got us into WW1, then proceeded to outlaw any speech or protest by anyone opposed to the war. He then orchestrated the disastrous League of Nations, a precursor to one-world government and the UN. An institution which crippled Germany and ultimately pushed that country toward Hitler and WW2.

By “men and women of noble character and of elevated purpose who believe they can accomplish those things which their hearts have so long desire,” Wilson is referring to his fellow pinkos.
And there is nothing “noble” or “elevated” about them.

Are you sure that Wilson wasn't calling out T.R. for not being left-authoritarian enough? I'm not a historian, but that's how it reads to me. (And consider how Wilson's presidency turned out...)

The first consists of those Republicans whose consciences and whose stomachs could not stand what the regular Republicans were doing.
That there is a fine piece of demagoguery. Wilson excelled at it.
He won with fewer popular votes than Taft and Roosevelt's combined. Thanks, Teddy.
Taft, meanwhile, saved the GOP from going progressive, which was TR's plan.
