So, 12 cents per mile is if you can charge it at home?

And how do they calculate the cost of the time it takes to charge them, especially if you have to drive to a charging station? Upkeep? Repairs?

This person had a vacation ruined by one:

“o, 12 cents per mile is if you can charge it at home?”

I don’t see where you got that.

“And how do they calculate the cost of the time it takes to charge them,”

Most charging is done at home while the owner sleeps.

“This person had a vacation ruined by one:”

2000 miles in 4 days is NOT a vacation and you know it!

Better questions are: how much did it cost to get that home charging station installed in her garage? How much did it cost to run the high voltage lines to her property?
