My two word response: Pellet gun.
My one word response: Meh.
My no word response:
Private property rights, if there’s no HellOA. Looks like a Chihuly sculpture to me; likely since it cost $1M. I’ve seen much worse.
If it isn’t a Dale Chihuli (glass artist from Seattle) it is a knock off. I’ve got to admit never being a fan until I went to the exhibit at the space needle. individually, they are simply globs of deformed glass bubbles. But in the exhibit, they are pretty impressive in their extreme garish colors, shapes and assembly.
If that is the place the neighbor to his south has to look past that sculpture to see the ocean. So, I don't blame him for being mad, if he does not like the art.
But, the man has a right to put anything on his property he wants. Money talks and BS walks. The 'Karen' is out of luck. That being the case he does have options.
I was expecting something far worse than that, and much larger. I don’t find it particularly offensive.
I don’t think it’s that bad. Unless you plan to jump that fence into it.
Assuming the neighbor is wealthy, they should have bought property that isn’t that close to a neighbor.
Other options are a privacy fence, trees, bushes, sand dune...
Or go into the glass sculpture business and make a fortune selling to the Grosses.
what...
ever...
If you don’t like the way something looks, then don’t look at it. Problem solved.
“Hideous”? Hardly. It’s great garden art. The shapes evoking motion and the colors perfectly reflect the ocean. They guy who sued is nuts.
I think the pellet gun would be for the speakers blaring the”Gilligan’s Island” theme ALL DAY LONG.
If you have to hide you “art” behind a wall so only your neighbors can see it then the owners admit it sucks. I have some “art” that I will sell them for only half a million dollars.
Improve the sculpture by putting a hot dog on top of each one.
Dispute Between Neighbors. A True Story. 04-08-2009, 05:44 PM
A city councilman in Utah, Mark Easton, had a beautiful view of the East Mountains, until a new neighbor purchased the lot below his house and built a new home. The new home was 18 inches higher than the ordinances would allow, so Mark Easton, mad about his lost view, went to the city to make sure they enforced the lower roof line ordinance. The new neighbor had to drop the roof line, at great expense.
Recently, Mark Easton called the city, and informed them that his new neighbor had installed some vents on the side of his home. Mark didn't like the look of these vents and asked the city to investigate.
When they went to Marks home to see the vent view, this is what they found:¦

Curious that the piece doesn’t mention that the glass installation is by Dale Chihuly, arguably the most famous glass artist in the world. The neighbor may not like it, but it’s hardly something the Grosses scrounged from a thrift store. Honestly, my son has a neighbor with a garden gnome and flamingo display that is MUCH worse, and it’s in the front yard.
Hand out BB guns to every kid in the neighborhood. Just a matter of time.
I guess Hunter has moved from painting to sculpture.
hideous it is not. I don’t know what I expected, but worse than that. What surprises me is he spent a million on art that he put outside, in gravel.
I like the sculpture.
Sorry....I loved it !
Color-wise and theme-wise it's appropriate to the waterfront location.....it's graceful and interesting to look at.
Some folks don't have an artistic bone in their bodies.

It is not hideous! Dale Chihuly does fabulous work in blown glass that is often quite large. If you were to see those pieces in person you would notice lots of interesting detail in the glass that doesn’t show up at a distance. While I don’t adore ALL of his work, there is much that is phenomenal!
