it’s because google stopped supporting all authentication methods except oauth2 ...

upgrading old Tbirds to the latest TB (91.9.1) has been a nightmare for thousands because simply upgrading doesn’t work because old TBs leave behind multiple incompatible config files ...

If you use any G**gle product, you're as much as begging for a proctological exam every time you fire up a PC or handheld digital device.

Yes, I myself use Thunderbird portable, using IMAP (server imap.gmail.com) and ssl/tls for connection security, and OAuth2 as authentication method. Thank God it has worked well.
