If they can take those paychecks and move to lower cost-of-living states, then, they can live like kings and queens. (Exaggeration, I know, but still).

I will likely work until I die. At least I will have the satisfaction of knowing that I am contributing taxes to all the Biden voters.

If you live up to the maximum potential of your income you will always be in that boat.
It is possible to live comfortably on much less.

Household income — likely two wage earners with an effective combined taxation of 40% leaving $150k. If paying independently for the family’s health insurance, subtract $25k. That leaves $125k. Not exactly wealthy for a family of four in a HCOL state.

I no longer live paycheck to paycheck. I now live welfare check to welfare check (SS, pension, 401K, IRA). Since I’m retired and no longer have the expense of having to go to work everyday, I have more than enough to get by.

Another interpretation is that Americans makig at least $250,000 - placing them in the top 5% of earners in the country - have horrendous financial literacy.
And yet another, better informed interpretation is that many Americans making over $250k a year get those salaries because they live in areas where the high cost of living mandates high salaries, as most of those salaries are eaten up by mortgages and other expenses. They could move somewhere cheaper, but they would not be making $250k somewhere cheaper.

Did not read the article in depth, but my guess is that the majority of those high earners also live in parts of the country where living expenses eclipse anything reasonable.
$250K/annually in Muskogee, OK, for example, would be high cotton, indeed.

Remember when 25K made you think you were upper middle class in 1960? It got you a long way when the avg worker earned 5K. Well you have added another 0 to it, and today, you can’t afford the items that the 25K a year did in 1960? Forgetaboutit, inflation is what inflation does. IMO, it only keeps your wheels spinning in the mud leaving you with the illusion that you are moving ahead.

Ummm...wut?
If you're making $250K/yr and living paycheck to paycheck, you're doing it wrong, if you're in the long game.
If you ain't expecting to live past 50, more power to ya.
