I just moved to New Jersey from Alabama. Here’s what shocked me. (Spot the propaganda)

1. My new Boss So, there is clearly a hierarchy of hometown heroes, huh?.....

2. So long, southern drawl New Jerseyans speak so quickly, I’m being forced to recalibrate my brain. In Alabama, things are slower than molasses running uphill in winter.

3. Breakfast blunders Last week, I was having lunch with a new colleague. He asked me if I was familiar with Taylor ham. I asked, “Taylor who?” He about choked and fell off his chair! I guess I’ve got a lot of eating to do.

4. A place for all I appreciate the diversity I’ve found in New Jersey so far, which promotes acceptance and tolerance. Down in Alabama, suspicion of outsiders is common and on multiple occasions, I faced discrimination in the deep South. After all, I am a Muslim Arab, and according to a wide swath of public sentiment — driven by far too many misinformed media pundits — all Muslim Arabs are assumed to be terrorists. The assumption unfairly ignores the 1.7 billion Muslims who only desire love, peace, freedom and safety. Needless to say, I look forward to my new home in the Garden State, a much more colorful rainbow of humanity.

Well, we have it at my local Publix grocery store here in deep, dark, intolerant Georgia. It's called Taylor Pork Roll, though.

Pretty good, had it a few times when I went to boarding prep school in NJ.

Southern New Jersey and NW NJ are ok. The rest of the state smells like a sewage dump.

Reading between the lines here, this guy is lying his ass out trying to ingratiate his new neighbors by denigrating his old.

I’d believe most Alabamaians mistook him for a Latino and he got all indignant due to his racism.

I drove through Alabama during my move to Florida. I never heard anybody talk like that there, either. Some southern/country accents, of course, but none of this “Whatchoo doin’ here, BOYYYY???” The countryside along the interstates was lovely.

Needless to say, you haven’t been hit with New Jersey taxes yet. And enjoy your colorful rainbow of humanity, until you get mugged in Newark.

I pay a combined state-local sales tax of 7.5% here in Escambia County, FL, but I’ll bet you that’s still less than NJ’s state sales tax.

I lived in Bama for 4 years. LA. Lower Alabama. Great place. I am originally from deep East Texas so the language was very similar.

The article writer needs to visit Newark and Paterson after midnight.

That would be fun to read!

Yet this ass wipe is perfectly content to slander the people of Alabama as racist but indignant that anyone might think Muslims are terrorists.
Boy, I’m glad he’s out of the South.

Consider the source...
nj.commie...the same as mlive.commie(michigan) and al.commie(alabama).
We use to have two papers printed locally in Huntsville, Al.
The Huntsville News was the more conservative morning paper and The Huntsville Times was the evening one.
Now it’s all controlled al.commie and run by liberals.
I wouldn’t be surprised if nj.commie and al.commie conspired to write this drivel.

Alabama’s loss is Alabama’s gain in this case.

Every article includes Taylor ham vs pork roll debate, but I don’t hear people talk about it in NJ

If you want to start a fight in NJ ask, is it sauce or gravy?

Really, slime? Let's compare Paterson NJ crime against slimes, with say, Dothan AL.

"The five NJ municipalities with the most bias incidents reported to police were:"

Keep in mind, these NJ stats are most likely Mooselimes perpetrating hate crimes on blacks!

Alabama? In 2019, the FBI reported 0 hate crimes in Alabama.

Schadenfreude!

I agree Alabama sucks

That’s why so many folks are leaving there obviously

His real issue is lack of diversity

Well

Alabama is around 67% white

28% black

The rest Hispanic or Asian whatever that means

New Jersey is

67% white

13% black

The rest Latino and Asian

Only difference is it’s more white since many Hispanics and Arabs are pretty darn white

Alabama is dark second only to Mississippi which is 60/40

If he wanted diversity might I have suggested north Birmingham

What these people always want is less white and less traditional views

People are fearful of Muslims for good reasons

The only reason leftist love them is they see them as non white and non Christian

Why so many leftist secular Jews do this is mind boggling

They will only learn when the AK is at their brain stem ..a mite late

Taylor is the famous brand name. Like people use Xerox for a photocopy.

“Pretty good, had it a few times when I went to boarding prep school in NJ.”

Then you are probably with Jersey diners. It will be on them as Taylor Ham. Here’s a few examples.

https://www.orderlegendsdiner.com/menu

As a side order item: Taylor Ham. In a bagel sandwich - Fried egg and taylor ham

https://lincolnparkdiner.com/what-is-taylor-ham-and-why-is-it-so-delicious/

A diner in Lincoln Park:

“What is Taylor Ham… and why is it so delicious?

“Most people in New Jersey are quite familiar with Taylor ham—after all, its one of our state specialties, and it is amazing!”
