I saw a tv program years back that addressed this. They recreated faces on bones to try to solve murders. The likeness wasn’t perfect, but it was surprisingly close.
Several years ago in Boston, the decayed body of a toddler girl was found, in a trash bag, at a local beach. Authorities worked to provide a working description of the young girl. The picture that emerged was of a beautiful young baby. Nobody came forth to discuss a missing girl of the description.
Some weeks following, a break in the case occurred. They found persons who identified the girl from the recreated model. They obtained pictures. The pictures of the little girl were amazingly similar to the artist rendition. I was amazed at the accuracy. I never really thought that such a thing could be possible, but the evidence was before us all. It was remarkable.
They reconstructed that child's likeness and arrested the parents well, the mother and her boyfriend, who each blamed the other for the murder.
