Washington police say drivers aren't stopping for them

The Washington State Patrol says drivers are increasingly refusing to stop for troopers - and other law enforcement agencies also say this is becoming a common occurrence.

The Northwest News Network reports that from January 1 to May 17 of this year, the agency logged 934 failure-to-yield incidents. While the patrol didn’t track this in the past, veteran troopers say there’s been a dramatic uptick in drivers fleeing traffic stops.

“Something’s changed. People are not stopping right now,” said Sgt. Darren Wright, a WSP spokesperson with 31 years on the job. “It’s happening three to five times a shift on some nights and then a couple times a week on day shift.”

Local police departments are also seeing this behavior. The Puyallup Police Department logged 148 instances of drivers fleeing from officers from July 26, 2021 to May 18, 2022.

Asked if that represents a significant increase, Chief Scott Engle wrote in an email, “I could 1,000,000% say this is completely absolutely emphatically totally unusual.”

Why should they when actual criminals who are stealing, raping, murdering, and vandalizing are given a pass?

“Washington state police oath”

This part of the oath is what I believe they were upholding.

“...I will obey the orders of the Governor and the State of Washington and the officers appointed over me”

And then, people will start shooting back.

The real problem is we have a breakdown of society in progress, Miss Normalcy Bias.

That will come to a screeching halt when tow-truck drivers are fired on.

Normalcy bias.

They have their own FR chapter of hate a cop just because. I would say the anarchist have been successful. We are all about to reap the bitter harvest of this Marxist campaign against the rule of law.

Yep, unfortunately

Well in my town even though I’ve met a few good ones had a couple cars stop me twice - a black guy robbed 9 (NINE) places at gunpoint and was still at large. I even suggested to a couple of them where he likely was, within a small radius (I was correct, too). BEFORE he was caught. I could guess because of his targets (twice a guy I know).

My crime was ... a plastic license plate cover. I’m white BTW and in no way resemble the perp at all

Priorities...

Hard to believe the perp was able to commit 9 robberies. 🙄🙄🙄

Of course maybe if they weren’t wasting time with me....

First time, driving home from work

Second time, driving home with pizza

Little old lady here, heading home to Oregon on the I-5 near Ridgefield after visiting family in WA State. I was over the speed limit, but there were cars with WA plates whizzing by me. Got pulled over by a state trooper for speeding. I hope Oregon State Police do the same thing to WA drivers too.
