Agreed. And he never gets it back.
A willful decline.
Shameful.
Great historic perspective in those maps.
“I think whatever the truth is, Mark Levine probably doesn’t know any more than any of us about what is going on.”
Chances are that he finally got a link to a not-fake news site, like RT.com.
“Putin happens to be a Communist, trying to restore the Soviet Union.”
Link please. He has talked out restoring Russia, which is significantly less than the Soviet Union, but I don’t know of him ever saying anything about restoring the Soviet Union.
Yes, he is. But there are those on Free Republic who not only love and adore him. They worship him and the ground he walks upon. They will defend him to the death. As for him, he laughs all the way to the bank thinking how he has them fooled as he deposits their hard money he fleeced them of in his bank account. He and his Blood Brother Sean Hannidity are cut from the same bolt of cloth. Con Artists extraordinary.
“Because of their warmongering I quit Levin just as I quit Hannity and the other Fox shills. I feel ashamed to have ever followed them.”
Same.
I disagree, it’s nearly impossible for an occupying army to defeat a determined gorilla operation supported largely by the locals.
But it takes time, a LOT of time, to wear down the occupiers resolve.
“I’m not sure they want the whole country and I think Putin would make a big mistake trying to occupy it if that is his intention.”
Agree, and trying to fully occupy that country would be worse for him than some of our wonderful ‘adventures’. But if needed, he’ll likely do it, so as to assure they no longer threaten Russia.
I don't know about you personally, but pretending our Putinists aren't supporters of Russia is simply dishonest. They state it openly, calling the USA a degenerate country with gays in the military, while Putin is the good guy who does nothing wrong, and his army is very masculine and strong, and Russia is a Christian country.
“Wait I thought the Ukraine’s were crushing it. That’s what I’ve been told over and over again in the media.”
That was to help shepherd the $40B through Congress.
Russia like China is threatened by free countries. Thus the extermination of Ukraine--which his regime has stated openly over and over again--is indeed the goal, and Poland, Estonia, Lithuania have all been targeted with the same abuse and threats.
Fortunately, despite your jerk off session the other day, Russia's military successes are already turning into failures as usual!
Look forward to another disappointment like the collapse of the invasion of Kyiv and Kharkiv as the gay Russian military can't do anything right for very long.
“Yes there are bad people, but what country doesn’t have bads? Russia is for Russia…like we used to be.
Correct, and one of the earliest things that Putin did was put leashes (or worse) on the bad people there.
He said the collapse of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical tragedy of the 20th Century. Since ascending to the presidency, he has been adding back pieces from that Union. One can logically deduce his mindset and intentions from there.
Russia invaded. Bad.
U.S. sent arms to Ukes. Good.
After that, chips ought to fall where they may.
NO U.S. TROOPS!
“If Russia takes Ukrainian territory and we don’t do everything necessary to stop them, then the next stop will be halfway through Poland.”
Link please.
“Russia is trying to reestablish the depth of field they had during Soviet times.”
Link please.
Agree.
Certain elements are making lots of money off of this.
“Russia has historically always been a conquering nation. What makes you think Putin is any different from the historical trend of Russian politics?”
So has Germany, so has Japan. Germany and Japan changed...
I think that as long as someone like Trump was in charge Europe felt safe in dealing with the devil. I doubt that the bureaucracies deep inside the German or Polish states felt that Putin was safe. But as long as Putin cowered from the two am mean tweet, they felt they could deal with him. Then, along came Biden. Suddenly, Putin felt he could do anything he wanted. The same thing happened under Obama.
Much of this problem had its foundation laid by Merkel, who failed to create the infrastructure to resist Russian pressure. I can’t blame them for buying from the cheapest supplier, but any idiot could see they were paying for the Russian military and eventually, that would end badly. The Greens in Germany have done more to destabilize Europe by doing away with power plants and going solar/wind than anything. Probably the greens are completely subsidized by the one person who benefitted most by their actions: Putin.
I saw a cartoon. Merkel is shaking Putin’s hand. She says, “I’ve spent my entire career uniting Europe.” Putin says, “Here. Hold my beer.”
There were major hints from the start... Whenever we are force fed only one side a story, all opposing opinions are banned from discussion, and all who question the narrative are demonized and called names to shut them up, we ought to be very suspicious. With regard to Ukraine, all of these things were true from the beginning - not to mention that all of our worst enemies from Soros to Romney were in on it.
Cheap shot leveled at a fellow FReeper just because they don’t agree with you
Putin’s history and belief are well documented
