It's debatable if Bananarama's version was better, but I prefer this one because it has a distinct 1960s sound that can't be replicated. Part of my playlist.

Thanks for sharing. Lead singer is the striking Mariska Veres - died too young.

And everyone thought it was a male singer. Heard it once on a carnival ride
, In a cartoon fashion—it was better any version. Asked the guy where he got it and he said it was a Disney release. Impossible to find.

I thought Mariska sounded a lot like Grace Slick.

She was certainly striking in the day. Not so much in later life. Of course, it happens to the bet of us.

One of those songs I’m quite fine with either version, depending on my mood at the time.

When I first heard that song I couldn’t understand why they sang “ I’m your fetus “ but I was just a kid......

Yeah this one is the kind of 60s sound I do not prefer.

Its sounds like the mamas and the papas and I cant stand that 60s type of sound

Back in the 60s when thr first version came out, I thought they were singing “I’m your penis...” I was surprised that was being allowed on the radio.

For a ‘60s throwback, the online free radio station radio.net has a station called “Beyond the Beat Generation”, which plays off-brand music, and lesser known and concert tracks. A very eclectic collection. Not pop.

I remember as a kid, in 1969, riding to the local shopping center to buy my first 45, Shocking Blue - Venus.

A couple years ago, Netflix had a series called The Queen’s Gambit. About a young girl who was orphaned, then discovered she was a chess prodigy at age 9.

Here we see her several years later, spiraling out of control, smoking, drinking, etc, while dancing around in her skivvies to Venus. At one point she spits up into her chess trophies. Nice touch:
