A gas-station shootout in Houston took an unexpected turn after a woman trying to flee the scene hit and killed a man who was allegedly trying to rob someone else, according to local police.
On Thursday afternoon, a man approached someone at a Chevron gas station who was selling hair extensions and tried to rob him, according to news station KTRK. The man selling extensions grabbed his gun and a shootout started.
"The suspect ran through the parking lot. There was a female that was in her car, and I believe she had a child in the car," Houston Police Department Lieutenant Larry Crowson told KTRK. "She was extremely scared. She accelerated at a high rate of speed to get out of the parking lot and avoid the shootout. She struck the suspect, and he's under the car here behind me."

It’s a mystery I’m telling you.
Let’s get inspector Clouseau.
“She struck the suspect, and he’s under the car behind me.” Best police department spokesman quote I’ve read in years.
The most shocking part of the story is the price of diesel in Houston, $7.50/gal!?! It’s a buck cheaper than that in CA. Every time I go to TX, it’s about $2/gal cheaper than CA.
Good summary, Columbo!! 😂
That’s good!
The guy was clearly going for her catalytic converter
With lawyers, anything is possible.

Reminds me of this scandalous 1970s arcade game.
They all go on on the scoreboard. As Lt. Frank Drebin said when he was honored for killing his 1,000th drug dealer:
Thank you. But, in all honesty, the last three I backed over with my car. Luckily, they turned out to be drug dealers.
Black Lives Matter
A shootout, you say?
What kind of gun? Was it an assault weapon?
You can’t make this crap up. The United States of Absurdity has become a long running Katzenjammer Kids Cartoon. With the lead actor pooping his diaper in the White House.
Did she get some free fries afterward?
There’s a channel on youtube called Active Self Protection (ASP) and he reviews shooting events caught on live cameras. Sometimes private, sometimes police cameras.
One had a guy with a shotgun wandering the street and firing randomly. One cop shows up and is behind his car with the guy taking potshots at him.
Another cop in his SUV comes driving up. IIRC he starts to slow down like he’s going to stop and engage the shooter as well. But then he steps on the gas and hits the shooter square on. (Killed him, going 30mph plus).
There was a cop in St. Paul, MN that did a similar thing. Guy with a gun shooting at a cop in his squad car, the other squad comes up and jumps the curb hitting the shooter and driving through a wood fence and ending up in somebody’s back yard.
The ASP channel is interesting. The bad guys look for people in “transition zones” like getting into the car. Distracted fumbling for keys, get in the car and put stuff away, plug in the phone, look up GPS, etc.
He recommends you don’t get in if someone suspicious is nearby, get in, lock the doors, start the car and put it in drive and THEN plug in your phone, etc. “You have a 4000 pound weapon that you are SITTING in, use that!”
I have started to do that with the exception of taking it out of park. Too easy to take one’s foot off the brake if doing something else. OTOH, I try to not be doing “something else” when I’m leaving a place.
My old man always had station wagons growing up (Chevys, the cars were Buicks though). I’ve always thought it would be “fun” to buy an old one and fix it up. (I never will though.) Perhaps some things are better left in our childhood memories anyway.
Guess the prep is feeling little
run down right now!
Switching channels in early AM today caught an exchange between Al “The Giand Head” Sharpton and some other nameless feral, where the feral claimed that blacks were the majority ... he’s clearly been watching too many commercials ...
Quick, ban all assault cars!!! Do i have to put the /sarc?
