The British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) reports that all new cars sold in the UK from July will be mandated to be fitted with speed-limiting software.
The software, called Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA), is already implemented by some car manufacturers, such as Ford, Mercedes, and Renault, according to the BMF, but will become mandatory for all new cars from July 2022. ISA limits the speed of the car to the prevailing limit on the road the car is currently on; so, if you’re driving in a 30mph zone, it will limit to 30mph. The software can be overridden by the driver, though, the BMF notes.

It will never go over here. Most municipalities get their funding from speeders.
In Texas I set my cruise control to 4 mph above the speed limit on interstates. I drive about the same speed I used to when the feds forced the states to set a 55 mph speed limit.
Creepy

WTF!?
Aside all that..I doubt the local police would like this in the USA since that takes a big bite out of the revenue stream.
Especially if its Californians, the fines are doubled for them.
I'm sure any new part now will be at some ridiculous cost.
“Intelligent Speed Assistance”
No, thank you.
It will be built into every car. They won’t do a special for England only cars
The software can be overridden by the driver....for now.

Not for long.
negative...
it only controls the compliers...
67-68 all across the country. Thats what I drive. It allows for the traffic to very slowly go away and your not racing and slowing for trucks all the time.
That is on the interstates.
Coming here once all vehicles have to be datalinked to a mothership
I will bet anyone here that it will be overridden forever by owners if they want to.
Just like this new DEF system. Warranty goes off and in the shop they go and that’s the end of the DEF fluid system.

Not for long.
“What are you doing Dave?”
So, basically you’re buying a rental truck.
Let me speed up HAL. I’m sorry Dave, I cannot do that.
I hope you stay in the slow lane, otherwise you are going to end up causing much road rage.
Well, Big Brother *owns* 99.9% of all the automobiles we think we own, in the form of 'Motor Vehicles'.
If you have a motor vehicle, then you do not own it.
Only those in possession of an allodial title to their automobiles, own them. That means, you own it if you hold the MSO/MCO. If you sent it/them to your motor vehicle registry, in exchange for a mostly worthless 'Certificate of Title', you do not retain full rights over what is no longer your property.
