Autistic kids shouldn’t be in the same classroom as normal kids. They need a different level of attention, and probably would have benefitted from a male teacher and male principal to control and discipline unruly behavior.

In comment 1 where I’m talking about a special ed teacher I knew of in Junior high? That was a male teacher. Notice I also said “boys” when it came to who misbehaved. Most who were in there was learning disabled, slow learners or hyper active (what ever they call that today) there were no autistic back then, not like today.
He did a good job of controlling them.
You are correct. Government schooling shouldn’t have autistic children in the same class with other children. My grandson is autistic. They need specialized environments.
Let’s look at summer camps. There are private summer camps for every disability, medical condition, and special interest ( talent) of every imaginable kind.
If all schooling were private, we would see the same variety of educational services.
Yes, Special Ed and seperate classrooms and schools were a good thing. There is no need to have wheelchair bound kids in a classroom. No possible good can come from multi lingual classes. The deaf can go to deaf school. The blind can go to blind school. The misbehaving kids can go to the schools that teach how to serve burgers, shovel shit in the chicken coop, or drive a taxi.
Our schools(govt schools) build nothing but failures, because they do not weed out those who can’t, won’t, or are incapable of learning.
