That was the first record I ever bought, picture sleeve for 69 cents at Barkers of Wallingford, CT. Follow-ups were Jim Croce and the Hollies. I couldn’t afford albums.
Such a great song. Beautiful arrangement with a bit of sad in the lyrics.
In the mid 70’s I was walking out of the Space Mountain ride at Disneyland when someone gave me push from behind, I turned and was standing face to face with Ringo. One of his body guards apparently didn’t think the crowd was moving fast enough.
We love you, Ringo,
Oh, yes, we do.
No matter where you go,
We’ll follow you.
When you’re not near to us,
We’re blue.
Oh, Ringo, we love you!
I lost my god-son a few years ago to a rare form of cancer; he was the eighth case on record. They finally realized treatment wasn’t working and palliative care was all they could do.
He was at a well-known cancer center in New York and there was a knock on the door. A fellow with a guitar came in, said he used to be in a band and wanted to play a bit and talk. 45 minutes later he autographed the Taylor guitar and left it with Justin who died two weeks later.
And that’s why Paul is my favorite Beatle.
