Last night I attempted the impossible. I set about trying to carry on a rational discussion regarding the horrific events in Uvalde, Texas. I now have one less Facebook friend -- oh, the ignominy of being unfriended by a raving liberal -- and a newfound respect for Dale Carnegie, who, unlike myself, was able to win friends and influence people.
Realizing that the progressive left would use this tragic episode as one more opportunity to rant about gun control, I decided to pre-empt them. I offered a Facebook post picturing a gun and ammunition and stating emphatically that the only way to stop school shootings is to have at least one armed guard in every school in the country.
As the late football announcer, Keith Jackson, often said, ‘whoa, Nellie.’ I got my share of “likes” from folks I knew agreed with this no-nonsense solution. But then the fun began.
This post came from the wife of an old high school acquaintance whom I have never actually met, but someone with whom I’ve had several spirited and intelligent online conversations: “You are dead wrong! Please unfriend me, can’t stand folks who claim to be pro-life and don’t give a rat’s a-- about living children.”
Huh? My puzzled response was, “How does suggesting armed guards to protect children become not giving a rat’s ass about living children? If you want me to unfriend you, I will, but I’ll miss debating one of the very few people on the other side of the political spectrum worth having a discussion with.”
She came back with, “sure… let’s have gunbattles at the schools, that should solve it! I am livid with republicans who can’t see that their love affair with guns is more important than my grandchildren...

Governments have killed far more people than criminals have.
The governments that have done the most of that, disarmed their citizens first.
So, obviously, anyone who supports gun control supports genocide.

Alternatives to public schools would make better educated kids and more parents confident their kids won’t get shot (”another reason to homeschool”). Those school taxes, I’d much rather they went to psychiatric facilities.
And yes, better security of course. Armed guards/teachers.
There’s a reason why Democrats don’t make owning guns illegal and confiscate guns. One: They’ll get voted out of office. Two: No one would comply. A new prohibition era would immediately begin. Three: It’s unconstitutional. This lady should be raging against Democrat inaction rather blaming Republicans.
Bingo.
We need to bring back mental institutions, and put nutcases in them. Letting crazies wander around society at large, "mainstreaming", as the happy-crap goes, does nothing but inflict damage on the sane, law-abiding, peaceful citizenry. Same as some felon who's had 20 arrests by the time he's 30. Put them in a cage, and keep them there.
Leftist policies have created these monsters, and now they blame everyone who actually does have their heads screwed on straight. Same stuff, different decade.
The left wants this to happen.
The cost of freedom is high.
But the cost of subjugation is infinitely higher.
Four schools protected with gun free zone signs so the shooters know were it is safe, thank you demonrats.
The real problem on may fronts is public schools. Get rid of the 120+ year old failed experiment and the problem goes away.

Be thankful. The excretion was painful, but the turd is gone.
The chaos of modern America is a feature, not a bug in the left’s political plan.

Best not hold your breath for anyone getting locked up for anything except misgendering a pronoun.
Having armed SROs in every school is indeed the correct and Constitutional solution. It is not, however, a magic talisman that will “stop” school shootings in the future.
There WAS an armed SRO on campus in Texas AND two other armed officers who engaged the shooter before he ever made it into the school. Yet he was not stopped.
The right verbiage is mitigate and respond and control, not “stop.”
There simply isn’t a foolproof “stop.”
Classrooms are no longer for learning the 3 r's, instead the focus is on acceptance and accommodation.
The best and brightest are dumbed down as to not offend the really stupid.
p.s. as for your kid with the peanut allergies.instead of 300 kids accommodating your kids allergies, Teach them not to touch or eat peanuts.
Our Left would have been putting us in concentration camps and killing us long before now if they thought they could get away with it. Convince me otherwise.

He's got it wrong. There was an armed guard at the school in Uvalde. It didn't stop the shooting. The better idea would be to do what Texas state law allows and have armed and trained teachers and staff. There are over 110 districts in Texas that already do this. Uvalde is not on that list.
