Its weird when you tell people you actually saw the movie in the theater when it first was run.

Like they didn’t realize exactly how old you are....

And then when you tell them you saw the first moon landing on TV, it’s like you’re telling them you were with the pilgrims getting off the Mayflower.

I remember when all of the first trilogy was in it’s first runs in the theatres, along with the Indiana Jones flicks, Blade Runner, Star Trek (Motion Picture, Wrath of Khan, etc). I remember seeing Chariots of Fire in the theatre and it was really neat with the score by Vangelis (recently RIP).

I did. Left before it was over. Never saw a sequel.

I remember seeing Star Wars and Close Encounters with my dad and my older brother around the same time. In the theatre. I was 10 and my brother was 13. I loved Star Wars. My brother and dad liked Close Encounters better.

Then Superman came out and I was all about that.

I saw it on the Friday it opened. It was definitely astounding at that time. Probably saw it another 8 or 9 times over the next year and a half. That is another thing younger folks are surprised by. Star Wars played in our small town theatre for almost 2 years.
